Established in 2001–02 by the Department of Industries, Government of Himachal Pradesh, Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Saliana was established with the vision of providing quality vocational training and skill development opportunities to the rural youth of Saliana and the surrounding areas of Kangra District.
The institute initially began with two trades in a rented building near Handolpat, Panchrukhi. Since its inception, ITI Saliana has remained committed to developing practical skills, technical competence and employability among young people through focused vocational education and hands-on learning.

Govt. ITI Saliana provides a supportive environment for technical education and practical skill development. The institute offers learning spaces, practical workshops, technical training facilities, computer-based learning, drawing and study resources to help trainees strengthen their knowledge and hands-on abilities.
